Two Russian air force generals were among six people killed when a helicopter
crashed in eastern Siberia, the Defense Ministry said Thursday.
A ministry spokesman, who declined to be named, said the MI-8 helicopter crashed
in open countryside Wednesday about 100 kms (60 miles) from the city of Chita.
All aboard the helicopter were killed, including Lt. Gen. Dimitri Kutsekon,
identified as commander of the 23rd Air Army, and his chief of staff, Maj. Gen.
Boris Batura.
The cause of the crash was not known and an investigation was being conducted,
the spokesman said.
