Personal Statement
I know that people sympathize with what I am saying. My message will spread. My country is calling me and I will continue to answer. I have made choices that have kept me outside the inner circles of the power & business elites, but I am well schooled in the principles upon which America was founded. I carry a dream of what we can become, and a warning of what we must avoid. All our wealth is illusion, if we cannot educate and advance the whole society, if we can not stop the environment from collapsing entirely, if the spies, propagandists and tyrants are allowed to seize control of our lives.
I believe in myself and I believe in the American people. I am carrying a message that must be delivered now, and I firmly believe that I am up to the challenge. I am not going to sit by while spoiled brats duel for the leadership of my country. I am not going to lie down while the whole free world is hijacked by gangs of greedy corporate crooks and repressed spy prudes.
America deserves better. Americans must rise from complacency and self-satisfied hypocrisy, and help to preserve the human race from the dangers which threaten. As things stand, we run a huge chance of slipping away into oblivion, our planet wrecked, the atmosphere distorted, lowlands awash in rising oceans, purveyors of lies and propaganda manipulating the underclass to their own benefit. I would like to be sure that our children have something to look forward to - something more than enclaves of the super-rich living in environmentally protected shells somewhere. Who else is going to stand up and recognize that we are falling ever deeper into crisis, and we have no leadership because our leadership is 1/3 spoiled, 1/3 stupid and the other 1/3 are criminals?
America can exercise power with grace and moral force. We can put aside religious and racial intolerance, and solve many more of the conflicts in the world. Access to knowledge is going to become practically unlimited. Even the poorest nations of the world will have tremendous opportunities, if we reach out to them. If we do not, our assertions of "spiritual values" and "democratic principles" will be revealed as little more than a self-serving, short-lived hoax.
Tragic events have altered the course of history. Freedom and democracy are under attack from outside, and within. Fear is being exploited for political gain by terrorists and "democratically" elected leaders alike. The government treasury is being looted by its overseers at the expense of future generations. A spectacular environmental crisis is denied and dismissed while profiteers squeeze the last resources from the earth so they can be wasted by an ignorant populace. The corruption and misuse of American military force abroad may bring unpleasant and unforeseen consequences at home.
I am not asking for money or votes. I stand for truth and liberty, I ask you to do the same.
