HEADLINE: Army General Killed in Helicopter Crash

BODY: Maj. Gen. Djarot Supadmo, military commander of North Sumatra, was killed today in a helicopter crash in North Sumatra, a senior army official said. The officer, who spoke on condition he not be identified, said the helicopter crashed in bad weather with four other men on board, including Djarot's aide. He did not say what happened to the four other men. The helicopter took off from the North Sumatra capital of Medan and crashed while flying over the Porsea district 125 miles south of Medan, the officer said. Djarot, 45, was appointed military commander of North Sumatra last January.
